Understanding Maternal Depression: Learning to identify a Complex Mood Disorder

Postpartum Depression is the most common complication of childbirth, regularly unrecognized, nevertheless a devastating disorder. Studies estimates that at least 15% to 20% of women who give birth suffer from this condition and feelings of shame often keep them from seeking the help they need. The purpose of this program is to present participants with a general overview of Postpartum Mood and Anxiety Disorders including risk factors, type of treatments and screening instruments. Practitioners will become familiar as well with current research that is linking some risk factors with Postpartum Depression.
Join HMHB on November 18, 2011 from 9:00AM-12:30PM at the City of Miramar Multi Service Complex, 6700 Miramar Parkway. The cost is $60 and 3 CEU’s will be offered for Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Mental Health Counselors.
